Our story

Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from Ghent University, OHMX.bio is deeply rooted in the academic excellence and innovation ecosystem of Ghent. From here, we harness high-throughput analysis and advanced multi-omics technologies to push the boundaries of pharmaceutical and biological research. Our collaborative projects bring together experienced wet-lab scientists, bioinformaticians, and experts who deliver tailored solutions with scientific rigor and operational excellence.

To better support our international partners and accelerate collaboration across borders, OHMX.bio has opened a new office in Switzerland. This expansion enhances our proximity to key life sciences hubs in the DACH region, enabling faster engagement, stronger local support, and closer alignment with global research initiatives. While our scientific core remains anchored in Ghent, our Swiss presence reflects our ongoing commitment to growth, accessibility, and partnership in the broader European research landscape.
In July 2024, OHMX.bio joined the Anacura family through acquisition by Anacura, a leading analytical services group. This strategic partnership strengthens our ability to serve biotech, pharmaceutical, and clinical research communities with an even broader portfolio of analytical and multi-omics capabilities, while preserving our mission, values, and commitment to quality. CSO & Co-founder
Prof. Gerben Menschaert is the CSO and co-founder of OHMX.bio. He is an expert in high-throughput technologies (sequencing and mass spectrometry) and bioinformatics. After working for several years in both pharmaceutical and biotech companies (Janssen Pharmaceutica & deVGen) he built an academic career (Belgium, US, Australia). As CSO, he steers the OHMX.bio team.

Joannes van Cann (PhD) has an accomplished background in both science and business. His scientific career has stretched across Europe, and he has supported Global Clinical Trials, while also pursuing an MBA at a world-renowned business school. His mission is to grow OHMX.bio through business development and by focusing on the company’s strategy.

As the COO of OHMX.bio, Hendrik Van de Voorde brings over 15 years of experience and specialized expertise in sequencing and the implementation of novel cutting-edge technologies. Karolien De Kimpe is experienced in Human genetics, next generation sequencing and has a growing experience in third-generation sequencing. At OHMX.bio she manages wet lab projects and is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Information Security Management System (ISO2700) and Quality Management System (ISO 9001).

Her leadership is defined by a commitment to quality, innovation, and long-term impact within the life sciences ecosystem.

Felix Van Camp brings a strong business and strategic perspective to the team. His international background, including studies at Peking University HSBC Business School in China, provides him with a global outlook on innovation and collaboration.
